Location: Holyoke, MA
Spanish for “Gateway of Hope,” this project is intended to serve as a prominent community gateway. The 39 units were part new modular construction, part gut rehab, and part historic renovation. Occupied commercial space, along with tough environmental and building code issues, made this project particularly challenging. Funding, historic tax credits and time constraints demanded responsiveness and an ability to merge all of these issues, without ever diluting the final goal of creating attractive affordable housing.
