Design team Dietz & Company Architects and Margo Jones Architects provided Feasibility Study and Schematic Design services for a complete renovation of the existing historic Conte School to serve grades K-7. The goal of the design is to celebrate the history of the Conte School building and the City while bringing the facility up to 21st century standards. The exterior features of the historic building are being preserved and restored and a small addition provides a new entry for the school. Later additions and modulars are being removed to create a more functional and efficient space. Many interior details such as plaster walls, decorative columns and railings, terrazzo floors and wood floors are being preserved. These historic materials will support all new, highly efficient mechanical, electrical and technical infrastructure.
