Dietz & Company Architects is pleased to announce that Managing Principal and firm founder, Kerry L. Dietz AIA has been elected by the members of the Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS) to serve as their 2022 Chairperson.
On being elected and her goals as Chair, Kerry Dietz had this to say:
“Being Chair of the BBRS is an incredible opportunity and responsibility. Massachusetts is in the process of developing and implementing a new building code, the 10th Edition. A lot has changed in the world of design and construction…the use of cross laminated timber for high rise construction, the growth of the use of electric cars, climate change imperatives, on-premises electric battery storage systems, and the use of solar and wind power, just to name a few, have had tremendous impacts on our industry. My goal for the BBRS is to get the 10th Edition implemented by the end of the year, so that we are more in tune with the normal three year code cycle that we should be on.”
The Board of Building Regulations and Standards is responsible for monitoring state building codes and construction supervisor licensing in Massachusetts, as well as other related procedures, approvals, and certifications. Ms. Dietz was appointed to the Board by Governor Baker in 2017.
