Walkling Court

Location:  Medford, MA

Medford Housing Authority is redeveloping the existing senior and disabled housing at Walkling Court into all new deeply affordable Senior and Family housing. Currently there are 144 units of affordable elderly and disabled housing in nine two-story walk-up apartment buildings. Through the redevelopment of the entire 3.7 acre site, MHA plans to build 238 new units of senior, disabled, and family housing in two phases.

Project Phase I  will consist of a single six-story midrise building with 198 units of housing for the elderly and disabled. Amenities will include parking under the building, a shared community kitchen, fitness room, TV and Media rooms, a common laundry room, and a community room that also serves as a polling place for the neighborhood. There will also be a lounge that opens into a private, dedicated gardening space for seniors.

Phase II will bring affordable multi-family housing to the site in the form of four new buildings. There will be a four-story midrise building with parking underneath consisting of 24 one, two, and three-bedroom units. The midrise building will be surrounded by three townhouse buildings containing 16 two and three-bedroom units. Medford Housing Authority intends to construct Phase II subsequently to Phase I.
