Westfield Senior Center

Location: Westfield, MA

The 21,500 sf Westfield Senior Center is sited on the grounds of the former Noble family estate and is adjacent to a neighborhood of senior housing and on a tree lined street containing a number of older homes. The building’s scale and materials are intended to reference this context and provide a welcoming image to the senior population of Westfield. The layout is compact and easily navigated by someone entering the building for the first time. A large skylight tower brings natural light into the heart of the interior and provides an orienting element within the building as well as from the exterior. A lounge/library has a monumental stair within it which leads to activity spaces on the second floor. The dining/multi-purpose space opens to an outside dining patio. Veteran’s services are also provided within the first floor of the building.
