Wilmington Senior Center

Location: Wilmington, MA

A new 18,900sf senior center that will provide the senior community of Wilmington with large, flexible spaces for dining, fitness, and arts and crafts. The design also includes an exterior patio space to house the center’s outdoor programs. Accessibility standards are being used as a module for design rather than a mandated requirement, allowing for the human body and its proportions to serve as a design parament for both detailing and function.

The building is designed to be very high performing/energy efficient. The structure features exposed mass timber and it is prewired for solar photovoltaic. With the exception of gas for the community kitchen and domestic hot water, the building will be primarily electric.
