Dietz & Company Architects volunteers at International Language Institute

Community Engagement with the International Language Institute of Massachusetts

On Friday, April 12, 2019, a team from Dietz & Company Architects volunteered their time at the International Language Institute of Massachusetts as part of the company’s long-established practice of staff engagement in community work. The team consisting of Marc Sternick, Kevin Riordon, Krista Benoit, Mohamed Ibrahim, Jie Chen, and Lukasz Czarniecki spent the day painting some of the ILI classrooms, as directed by ILI administration, replacing the old institutional faded green color with a new bright yellow. The team worked thoroughly, moving furniture temporarily to clear the rooms, laying protective paint-cloth on the carpeted floors, clearing work surfaces, taping edges of door/window trims, brushing and rolling the walls with two coats of paint as appropriate, as well as cleaning up and rearranging furniture back into the classrooms.

Both ILI staff and students have expressed their contentment with their newly painted rooms and their appreciation to the Dietz team for volunteering to make their school a better and brighter place.

It is noteworthy that ILI is a non-profit institution that provides professional education through a wide variety of language classes and is also known for its free English program sponsored by local businesses and dedicated for refugees and new immigrants. ILI was the top non-profit of Dietz Holiday Cheer prize last winter.
