Dietz & Co. Announce Move to Union Station
Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, the Springfield Redevelopment Authority, and Kerry L. Dietz, AIA, Owner and Principal of Dietz & Company Architects, Inc. have announced the move of Dietz & Company Architects to the newly redeveloped Springfield Union Station. The company, formed in Springfield in 1985, has a long history in the City and is the largest architectural firm in the region.
“We thank Kerry Dietz for her long term commitment to being part of downtown Springfield and being a pioneer at Springfield Union Station,” said Mayor Domenic J. Sarno. “Her company does outstanding work throughout New England and we are so happy she is continuing to do that work right here in Springfield.”
“To have the largest and one of the most prestigious architectural firms in the region become part of the Union Station family is exciting news for the City of Springfield. We have paid great attention to restoring the iconic building to its original grandeur, and the next challenge is finding quality tenants for both the commercial and retail space. With today’s announcement that Dietz and Company will be occupying close to a third of one of the upper floors, it is clear that we are making progress in our effort to make the station successful, vibrant and self-sustaining ,” said Congressman Richard E. Neal.
Dietz & Company represents the first major office tenant to the upper story commercial space at Union Station. The company will occupy approximately 8,200 square feet, nearly a third of one floor of the upper story space. A host of ground floor retail and transit oriented tenants were named earlier this year, including Dunkin’ Donuts, a convenience store, two retail mobile units and Subway.
“We’re thrilled to be staying in downtown Springfield and to be part of the rebirth of such a special place,” said Dietz. “Our company is no stranger to historic preservation and the reuse of iconic buildings; it’s a natural for us to relocate to a space like this.”
Armando Feliciano, Chairman of the Redevelopment Authority stated, “The SRA is honored to welcome Dietz & Company Architects as the first office tenant to the refurbished crown jewel of the City.”
Dietz & Company employs 25 at their current office space at 17 Hampden Street, just a few blocks from Union Station. The 32-year old company specializes in architecture and planning for both the public and private sectors.
“We have continued to grow and needed to identify new space that was appropriate for our needs,” said Dietz. “The space at Union Station offers high ceilings, great light, and will offer our employees convenient parking and great linkage to other transportation options.”
The SRA continues to negotiate and seek tenants for the remainder of commercial and retail spaces. Interested parties should contact the Springfield Redevelopment Authority for further information.
