Learning at Dietz – Revit Modeling & Documentation

Recently, I lead the staff through best practices in Revit modeling and project documentation for storefront assemblies. We reviewed the operational, structural, and construction differences between, windows, storefront, and curtainwall and related those variations to how best represent them in a BIM environment. Through hands-on learning, the staff created simple and robust Revit solutions to common challenges in the representation and documentation of storefront design. I was particularly happy to see the staff assisting each other sharing Revit techniques!

This is the second in an ongoing series of Revit Modeling for Detailing that I am leading on a bi-weekly basis to maintain high quality design standards in the office. These digital modeling and detailing seminars are the direct result of staff questions and requests. Over my 20+ years of experience practicing architecture, I have always kept a focus on my craft as a designer and detailer. I went into architecture because I love to investigate built solutions to difficult problems by drawing them. This is a chance to share what I have learned with the team in a collaborative setting.

Next up, the staff have requested a how-to on Revit stairs. This will meld code requirements with Revit technique to model stairs more quickly and accurately.
