On June 24, Dietz & Company Architects joined project partners and community leaders at the groundbreaking ceremony for Silk City Commons in Manchester, CT. The event marked the start of the transformation of the former Manchester Parkade shopping center site into a vibrant mixed-use development.

In the coming months, the roughly 22 acre site will see 232 units of market-rate housing take shape, along with free-standing garages, a maintenance building, and a clubhouse that will include community gathering space, a full fitness center, outdoor pool and patio, and a rentable function room.

In addition to the new housing being built, the larger site has been planned to include retail pad sites along Broad Street and a multi-use recreation trail along Bigelow Brook as part of the Town’s initiative to increase multi-use path connectivity.

Dietz & Company is proud to be part of this exciting project and looks forward to seeing Silk City Commons bring new energy and opportunities to a long-vacant site. Construction is expected to be completed in 2028.
